Nobody Puts Adam in a Corner!

First Sean told me he had never seen "The Little Mermaid." Now he tells me he has never seen "Dirty Dancing?"

As a gay man, I have to ask, was Sean in a coma through the whole 80's?!?! I will have to rectify this situation soon with a movie night. You know you know the whole soundtrack, readers, don't act like you don't!
"She's like the wind..."
"Now I've had the time of My Life..."
"Hungry Eyes..."

McDreamy Time!

Because it's my blog and I can! (I'm dedicating this to Margo)

If "Dr. McDreamy" doesn't ease your "hump day" you have no pulse.

Living Lohan

You know, I always used to think that, scandal-wise, Lindsay Lohan was a poor man's Paris Hilton.

Who would have thought she (and by extension her crazy fame-whore family) could be so interesting?!

So is she a lesbian or not? Is she dating Freddie Krueger's lesbian kid sister (AKA Samantha Ronson)?

And am I a bad person for wanting to watch "Living Lohan?" - I feel like I know I should know better.

Love, Love Will Keep Us Together...

Since things have been going so well again lately between Sean and I, I felt like posting this...

Sigh. And remember, I will only accept pay in Euros.

Tuesday Afternoon

Well, first a hat-tip to Phillip who's over in the UK right now for the extra publicity for my blog :)
I hope everyone had a hAApy Memorial Day weekend! It was much-needed on my part. I had planned on going away for the weekend, but Sean and I have been spending some quality time together that we desperately needed. it was his first night off in over 2 weeks.
By "quality time" that means we were lazy, napped in the park, ate, went furniture shopping (I realized I had a new desktop but no desk to put it on!). We sound like a boring old lesbian couple, I realize.
I went out a few of the nights, I visited my family on Sunday. I went to a Memorial Day get together at my friend Ozzy's place yesterday.
Other than that Sean and I are planning vacation. I'm actually on the phone with him right now - we're discussing the idea of moving to Los Angeles together, he got a job offer there. Don't worry we're not planning on moving yet, though I do like L.A.

"Indiana Jones and the Curse of the DC Witches!"

The title I think would make a good screenplay - action, adventure, and our enemies respectively getting Bell's Palsy, alcoholism, or being forced to turn tricks.
(I wonder what someone who stumbles on this blog might think of all the inside references LOL)

So I saw the new movie last night. I won't put any spoilers here. I will say if you liked the first three, it's worth going to see. I think Sean, Margo and myself can agree the ending was a little far-fetched. I don't know, somehow I expected better, but it wasn't bad.

iAdam

Tonight I’m going with Sean and Margo to see the new Indiana Jones movie, which I’m excited about.
I also have to add I took a leap and bought a new computer. My new iMac will be delivered shortly and I’m can't wait to get it! I should've just gone to the Apple Store and bought it on-site, but I wanted some special add-ons, so I ordered it online.

"I love the male body. It's better designed than the male mind." - Andrea Newman.

So, things seem to be healed/healing between Sean and I. There was definitely some miscommunication. What I do appreciate is that (unlike some past relationships) we can talk through our problems in a mature way. So I am feeling much better about things this morning.

Crack the Whip!

Holy Photoshop! I don't know how they do it, but even though Harrison Ford is like 4 zillion years old, he's still a hot hot man. Maybe it's the fedora, I don't know. I am looking forward to seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull this weekend!

I don't know about that Shia LeBoeuf kid, though. He could be hot, when he's not getting arrested at Walgreens. ha!

In my continuing series "Ex and the City" - today I had lunch with "S" (last week I had lunch with Casey) and it was really nice. I guess not much to report, but it's great being able to be his friend and have lunch together.

I admit in my personal life I've been sketchy with the details surrounding things between Sean and I, which I think we are trying to work on. In fact I'm meeting him in about 20 mins to have dinner and talk. Maybe I'll feel like writing about it in more serious detail later. Right now it's kinda hard to put into words. I am hopeful.

Trend Graveyard : Jorts!

I know this post seems out of place given my mood lately, but after a walk through Dupont Circle today, I feel compelled as a public service to denounce a clothing article that should be dead and buried with the 80's and 90's : jean shorts AKA "jorts."

What's even worse is I have seen young gay men wearing them!! Really, we are supposed to be the paragon of style. Even I have my "off days" but I have never sunk so low as to wear jean shorts. People, stop this travesty already.

I suppose "daisy dukes" are OK for trailer park women, but no man in his right mind should wear jean shorts. No. Put them in the trash. Don't even donate them to the homeless. There is nothing sexy or appealing about a man in jean shorts. The only thing that complements jean shorts are mullets and beer-hats. Don't be that guy.

Moving On?

I haven't really updated in a few days, haven't really felt like it. I'm having some relationship issues you might say. I'm really not sure what will happen; can things be worked out and differences resolved. I'm not sure. I'll post more soon.

Declined!

A hat-tip to my friend who posted a blind item about a certain "power gay" having his card declined at the bar the other night. Wa-wa-waaaa. I love it when people puff themselves up only to look more foolish - what's that saying, oh yes, "pride cometh before the fall." Indeed!

London Calling?

Well I think Sean felt my vibes all the way in McLean, not an hour after yesterday's post (which should have been more properly titled "I'm not mad at you - I'm mad at your schedule!") I got an absolutely beautiful bouquet of flowers. And now I feel slightly bad for being angry with him.

I have a deadline tonight to make a decision about my upcoming Mem. Day weekend - I may be in London, I may in Boston, I may in Rehoboth... where will Adam be?! (Of course I'm leaning towards London, but I have other expen$e$ to con$ider this summer).

I'm Not Mad at You I'm Mad at the Dirt!

So last Friday I did end up going to the Nats game. The evening cleared up beautifully, but the Nats sucked. They only gained 1 point by walking. It was so painful to watch Sean and I left before the 7th inning was over. But they did a great job on the new stadium! It’s so weird to think what used to be there, and how different it looks now.

Sean is frustrating me lately; I know it’s not his fault, I knew when I started dating a chef that out schedules would be very different. But it seems like it will be several weeks before we have a weekend off together again. Actually, we rarely even have a whole weekend together. Maybe it seems childish to complain about it, but it’s hard for us to see eachother during the week, and I’m getting frustrated with seeing him once or twice a week.

The Mommy Dearest Mother’s Day was a lot of fun, despite a lingering cold on my part, and the dreary rain. Fernando came with Joan-red lips, and Phillip brought the fur hat and wire hangers! Other friends came as well, there was food (see tagine recipe below) and wine, and I can’t help it – no matter how many times I watch it I still crack up when Joan dragged Christina into the bathroom “Does this look clean to you???” There’re some people I wouldn’t mind beating with a can of Ajax.

I almost went to sHOwtunes last night at my “favorite” bar with F & P, but I stayed home to get the hell over my cough and rest (by the way, I highly recommend the Aveda mud masks – I guess you could say I had a Mommy Dearest evening of my own). I almost wish I’d gone – I hear “S” was there – another source of frustration lately as I’m not sure how to handle that. I want to be friends but there’s those moments when we catch ourselves being too close. Don’t fear – I have the other witches keeping me in check.

The cold, wet weather lately has made me cook more than I usually do, so here are two recent recipes I think are worth sharing.

Thai Pineapple Fried Rice
1 cup uncooked jasmine rice
20 oz fresh or canned pineapple bits
1 cup shrimp
1 tsp sugar
1tbsp Thai fish sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
2 Thai chillies, chopped
Handful of Thai basil leaves
Handful of cilantro leaves
2 cloves garlic
1.2 chopped onion (opt)
Cook the jasmine rice per directions, set aside. In a wok with 1 tbsp vegetable oil, stir-fry shrimp until done, set aside. Add 1tbsp oil and stir fry garlic, onions and chilies until browned, then add rice. Add sauce (sugar, fish sauce, soy sauce) and cook several minutes, adding pineapple, basil and cilantro last.

After our experience at Marrakesh Palace, I am dubbing this hybrid recipe “Surly Apricot Olive Chicken Tagine
4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
8 dried apricots
8-10 kalamata olives
Pinch of saffron
Spanish smoked paprika
Sea salt / fresh ground pepper
Pinch dried parsley
Dash red pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 yellow onion, chopped
2 tbsp per pound meat, Morocco Road spice blend (available at Whole Foods) or individually:
Cumin, Corriander, Dried Mint, Tumeric blended to be added at 2 tbsp per pound meat.
1 cup chicken stock (NOT broth)
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tbsp honey.
Mix honey, red wine vinegar, lime juice, chicken stock together, set aside. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces and season with salt, pepper and paprika. In tagine (or slow cooker) heat 1 tbsp olive oil, cook onions and garlic. Before they brown, add chicken and cook until done. Add liquid stock, and Moroccan spices, saffron, red pepper, parsley. If using a tagine make sure it is on LOW setting and cover for 1 ¼ hour to slow cook. Add dried apricots and olives in last 20 minutes of cooking. Serve with a surly attitude and don’t refill anyone’s drinks. ;)

"I am NOT one of your fans!!!!"

I haven't updated all week - I've been tired after work it seem lately. Last night I ventured out with F & P to Daddy-Complex Duplex Diner, which is always packed on a Thursday. It's filled with all sorts of self-involved "Power Gays" (note the quotation marks) but I figure it is a good place to meet hot older men if you're looking. And I swear, it's hilarious coincidence, but when we got there the TV screens over the bar blared warnings about tornadoes and severe thunderstorms! LOL, get the "witches" together and that's what happens! Of course, how dare the weather interrupt Grey's Anatomy that was playing! I have to see Dr. McDreamy!
Despite the thunderstorm (the lighting was pretty) we ventured to Omega and Apex too, I'm feeling a bit sluggish today naturally.

I have tickets for two tonight to the Nationals (they're playing the Marlins). I was excited about seeing the new stadium, but I guess it'll be canceled due to the weather today. As a back-up, I also was invited to my ex "S"'s birthday party in Chinatown, so I said I would probably go to that too. I love birthdAAys!

And this Sunday is Mother's Day - which means (aside from sending flowers to my mom) that it's time for the annual Mommy Dearest Mother's Day! It's been a tradition for 3 or 4 years now (?) to watch Mommy Dearest and other bitchy movies, drink, eat, drink!

Breaking the Spell

It's been a very international week in terms of blog visitors - I've had people viewing this page from Senegal, Spain, Belgium, India, Denmark, France, and New Zealand. Greetings to them as well as to my faithful (and fAAithful) readers!

So today after brunch with a neighbor, Sean and I went to Harper's Ferry to enjoy a beautiful day out. Now after a last unfortunate attempt at visiting there, the running joke was that McDrunkerson had put a curse on the place. Well that spell is broken because Sean and I had a wonderful time today! I'm only pissed I forgot the camera. We had a wonderful time - I know it's West Virginia but it's a nice little day trip and there are lots of wineries in and around the area. Speaking of which, I think it's time for another big group wine trip!

Changing topics from McDrunkerson to McDreamy!

The other day I was talking with a friend and she reminded me of Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey AKA McDreamy! Sigh, he make me feel all gooey inside like a soft warm brownie with fudge sauce.

I could never face the shame of actually going to see his latest chick-flick, Made of Honor. But I'd be lying if I didn't want to see it just a little bit... just an little, little tiny bit. Sigh. The man is like catnip.

A "Quest" for Adventure in Central Park

I’m posting this a bit late as I’m sure there are only 5 people on the planet who haven’t heard the sordid details of a certain CNN anchorman getting caught in cruising in New York’s Central Park with meth and kinky paraphernalia.

Now you know when I read a CNN anchorman got caught with a bag of meth, a rope around his genitals, etc., my first thought was “How Anderson?! What about me? What about our kids??”

Fortunately Andy was not involved, but the toothy Brit, Richard Quest. How embarrassing!

Pink Elephant

This is for Phillip... here's a clip that explains (skip to min 1:20) the lip-syncing phenomenon of "pink elephant." For use on your next world tour...

Your Weekend Update

What a week it’s been. I realized I’ve been out pretty much every night since last Thursday. If I go out tonight, that will make one week straight! I went with some friends to karaoke on Sunday, sHOwtunes on Monday with F & P (where I ran into ex “S” again…of course I ran into him at that place. At least coAAt check wasn’t open!). I’m actually going to “S’s” birthday party next week.

Tuesday night was Fernando’s birthday; we had food and cocktails at Russia House AKA Pусский дом (I love that place) followed by drinks at Cobalt.

Wednesday I spent with Sean. Last night I went with a bunch of friends to the Brickskellar – I forgot how much I like that place, in that it is what it is – a dive bar with dirty smoke-reeking carpet, but with more beers than one can imagine.

Let’s see…tonight there’s a special work-related dinner I am dragging Sean to. Poor Sean, I feel like he gets tagged along to all my events, but I really love his support in just being there for me.
